Blame it On Mexico
The last time I made mention on this blog I had two fewer children. Needless to say, some things have changed since then! I am posting here again because my children and I would like to use this space to keep in touch with our family and friends while we do our best to follow the Lord's voice in our lives.
The 7 of us will be heading to a small suburb of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico in April. Luke will be attending a 5 month Discipleship Training School, during which he will learn what mission work is all about. We do not know what we will do after the 5 months of school. We trust the Lord will guide us in His good time:). During this 5 month period, the kids and I will still keep much of the same routine: meals, school, nap time, etc . . . however we will be doing those things about 1200 miles south of here. I imagine we will be helping out in all kinds of ways once we get there, although I'm not exactly sure what that will look like at this time. I'm hopeful that we will make friends quickly to help ease the transition for the kids (and me!). We have already started communication with another missionary family from Tyler, Texas who moved down there just 3 weeks ago.
Without a doubt, the hardest thing about this is the sad fact that we will be leaving the loving family and the wonderful community of friends that we love so much. I'm sure that the full impact of losing all of you won't hit us until we are long gone. However, we hope and pray that you will take time to send us emails, updates, and a sense of belonging to you still. I hope that the relationships we have here in Amarillo can be maintained and nourished across all the miles between us!
Despite the hard things, we want to follow the Lord's leading in this life. Every Christian who has felt the lift of guilt, shame, and sin come off of their shoulders knows the overwhelming sense of gratitude that comes with the freedom made possible by our humble, gracious Savior, Jesus Christ. We know that whatever we are able to do for Him will be nothing compared to what he did for us, and what he continues to do daily for all who put their faith in Him. We hope that all will come to intimately know the tender loving kindness of our Lord. We hope we are able to live up to the calling we have.

Titus 3:3-8
At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of our right living, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
